Back to Blog

It's been a while. I just found myself wanting to go back to writing. Years ago since my last post. Well, there were times I thought of something to write but there's nothing came to my mind. I ended up having a lot of draft post in there. Well, the reasons why suddenly gone were because my laptop stopped working and I had a bad and super slow connection. Another reason is I focused on my baking passion turned into a business. I overwhelmed with the orders I got and took advantage to it. I found myself earning not so big but I'd be able now to help my husband for our financial needs. I feel so good. I feel happy while I'm baking. I attend some free training and seminar about baking and I learned a lot. Until now, even though there are lots of home bakers here in our place, I still got orders from suki during their special occasions. While baking... I got pregnant with my fourth. She is unplanned but we were so blessed and happy that we have her. She's so amazi...

Folic acid... Importance to pregnancy

Folic Acid is also known as Vitamin B12 or folate is important to your pregnancy and even before you are trying to conceive. The reasons why we need to take folic acid: It helps in developing healthy cells to our growing little buddy and to our body as well.  It reduces the risk of birth defects such as neural tube defects (NTDs), heart and limb defects, urinary tract anomalies, narrowing of the lower stomach valve, and oral facial clefts (like cleft lip and cleft palate). Most doctors recommend this vitamin during our first check up to them. Personally, When I first knew I was pregnant through a PT (Pregnancy Test) I bought over the counter folic acid even before my first checkup. However, there are foods that are a good source of folic acid: spinach asparagus broccoli peas corn oranges dark green leafy vegetables papaya strawberry avocado okra celery squash sources:  http://sogc.org/publications/folic-acid-for-preconception-and-pre...

Churros Recipe

Churros Recipe One of the easiest meriendas to prepare. Best served with chocolate dip together with coffee, tea or hot chocolate. I just googled the recipe and put some twist for my kid's taste preference. Ingredients: 1 cup All Purpose Flour 1/2 cup butter (I used Baker's Best) 1/8 teaspoon salt 4 eggs 1/4 cup sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional) I omitted it because my kids doesn't like its taste lots of vegetable oil for frying Procedure: In a saucepan, combine water, salt, butter and sugar. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low and add the flour. Mix until well incorporated. Remove from heat and place in a mixer using paddle attachment. (low speed) Add eggs one at a time. It will look like a paste.  Put the mixture in a large pastry bag with large star tip or any tip you want. Pipe and cut with a knife directly to the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and transfer the fried churros into a plate with paper towel.  You may toss it to a sugar...
